So, I finally ditched my WOW [World of Warcraft] and WAR [Warhammer Online] accounts. I wasn't playing them anymore anyway.
WOW was too much of a min-max nightmare to keep up with. Plus, if you didn't have exactly the right gear (as dictated to you by whatever random site knows all) you were shunned in any of the end-game content.
WAR had great PvP (Errrr, RvR?), but not enough of my friends were into it, and once you level capped fairly quickly, it all became about the Keep/City taking and defending. Fun for a while, but not enough to keep me roped in.
I started playing LotRO [Lord of the Rings Online] last week, and it's not too bad. The crafting system is maserfully done, and it seems like there's enough going on to keep me interested for awhile (though there's waaaaay too much running around for my taste). I've only got a few friends playing there too, so once they start to filter out, I'm sure I will too. But for now, it's a good spot to hang out.
And that brings me to the future. This is all in an effort to kill time until the new SW:TOR [Star Wars: The Old Republic] MMO hits this fall (we hope). It looks good, it's by the guys who did KotOR which was awesome, and I'm sure all of my friends will jump right in. That being said, lets hope it's not as buggy as WAR was when that first dropped. I liked being in from the onset, but having to suffer through the aches and growing pains of a startup MMO is no fun at all. Play for three hours, patch for two, wash, rinse and repeat.
So, that's my update. Nothing of interest here. Just remembered I had a blog, and thought I'd use it. See you in another 3 months or so?
